Pro Sensitivity Trends
According to data from ProSettings, the average CS2 pro eDPI is around 850-900. Most professionals use 400 DPI with in-game sensitivity between 1.5-3.0, resulting in cm/360 values between 30-60cm. Lower sensitivities favor precision aiming for rifles and AWP, while slightly higher sensitivities can benefit aggressive entry fraggers. Understanding Mouse Sensitivity in FPS Games
Mouse sensitivity is one of the most personal and crucial settings for competitive FPS players. According to research published on PubMed Central, consistent motor patterns (like mouse movements) significantly improve performance in reaction-based tasks. This is why maintaining the same "feel" across different games matters for competitive players.
What is eDPI (Effective DPI)?
eDPI, or Effective DPI, is calculated by multiplying your mouse's DPI setting by your in-game sensitivity. This standardized metric allows direct comparison between players regardless of their individual DPI/sensitivity combinations. For example:
- 400 DPI × 2.0 sensitivity = 800 eDPI
- 800 DPI × 1.0 sensitivity = 800 eDPI
- 1600 DPI × 0.5 sensitivity = 800 eDPI
All three examples would feel identical in-game. The PC Gamer guide on DPI explains that higher DPI settings can provide smoother cursor movement, but the actual aiming feel is determined by eDPI.
Why cm/360 Matters
The cm/360 measurement indicates how many centimeters of mouse movement are required to complete a full 360-degree rotation in-game. This physical distance measurement is the most accurate way to compare sensitivity across different games because it accounts for each game's unique sensitivity scaling.
According to the Mouse Sensitivity blog, professional FPS players typically fall within these ranges:
- Very Low (60+ cm/360): Extremely precise aiming, favored by some AWPers and tactical shooters
- Low (35-60 cm/360): Most common among CS2/Valorant professionals - balances precision with flexibility
- Medium (20-35 cm/360): More versatile, common in faster-paced games like Apex Legends
- High (<20 cm/360): Fast movements but reduced precision, more common in arcade shooters
Game-Specific Sensitivity Multipliers
Each game uses a different internal sensitivity scale. This converter uses the following standardized yaw values (degrees per count at 1.0 sensitivity):
| Game | Yaw Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Counter-Strike 2 | 0.022 | Standard Source engine value |
| Valorant | 0.07 | ~3.18× CS2 sensitivity |
| Apex Legends | 0.022 | Same as CS2/Source |
| Overwatch 2 | 0.0066 | ~0.3× CS2 sensitivity |
| Fortnite | 0.5555 | Percentage-based (5.5% = 1.0 CS2) |
| Rainbow Six Siege | 0.00223 | Uses different base calculation |
Transitioning Between Games
When switching between titles like CS2 and Valorant, maintaining consistent sensitivity helps preserve muscle memory. However, some players intentionally adjust sensitivity based on game mechanics:
- Tactical Shooters (CS2, Valorant): Lower sensitivity for precise crosshair placement
- Battle Royales (Apex, PUBG): Slightly higher for tracking and quick target acquisition
- Arena Shooters (Overwatch, Quake): Higher sensitivity for fast 180s and vertical aiming
For Taiwan's competitive scene, many players from our Discord communities report using the same cm/360 across games to maintain consistency during scrimmages and ranked play.
Mouse Setup Considerations
Beyond sensitivity settings, ensure your gaming environment is optimized:
- Disable mouse acceleration in Windows (under Pointer Options → uncheck "Enhance pointer precision")
- Use a large mousepad - at least 40cm wide for low sensitivity play
- Match polling rate to your monitor refresh rate (1000Hz for 144Hz+)
- Consider mouse weight - lighter mice (under 80g) are preferred for arm aiming
